In FORNAV, we have “re-implemented” the option to attach files to, for instance, Customers, Items, or Orders, using the File Service feature. These files are attached as a link to a local or network drive, so they don’t take up database space in your Business Central solution. This allows for people outside of Business Central to have access to the files, such as product fact sheets, drawings, pictures, or similar.
To set up Business Central to be able to use this capability, you need to:
- Install the FORNAV Print and File service: File Service Installation.
- Open the FORNAV Setup page, enable Use Local Files in Attachments and select the Default Local File Share that you want to access:
Now you can attach local files to all documents in Business Central by clicking Show details on the document attachment page:
Here you can select one or more local files to attach to your document. The file can be a file already stored in your file share, or a file you upload from your local machine, which is copied to your file share.
